LT1083CP-12
This device is a high current, low-drop-out (LDO) voltage regulator. It comes in various voltages/versions but we using the 12V one. With a suitable heat sink, it can handle currents up to 7A but we don't plan to load it with more than 3 to 4 amps. With low loads the voltage drop from this device can be as little as 0.5V, making it ideal to provide a regulated 12V power supply fed by 12V lead-acid batteries.
